Nutrinsect arises from the need to feed the planet.

By 2030 we will have 9 million people and billions of bred animals which must be fed. By 2050 the production of meat is expected to doubles, while the production of aquaculture fish will be almost tripled. These results lead Nutrinsect to ensure that insects are used as a sustainable source of alternative proteins.

Our World

Mission

We want to contribute to one of the biggest challenges in the world, ensuring adequate human nutrition for humans and animals in a sustainable and economic way. Our aim is to solve two major problems: the increase of production of organic waste and the lack of nutrients. Over the 30% of the world's food is wasted and sent to landfills or composting operations where most of the nutrients are dispersed. On the other hand feed producers are looking for sustainable alternatives to traditional sources of protein sources to feed the animals. Nutrinsect provides a sustainable solution for both problems using insects as bio-transformers of food waste in order to dispose and to treat the organic waste. Once treated, these wastes can used as natural fertilizers rich in nutrients for organic cultivation. The proteins of insects can be used as a nutrient source for animal feed. To sum up, food for "plants and animals".

WHY INSECTS

Insects are the most diverse group of animals on the planet and they are incredibly efficient. They grow quickly and need a little space, consume very little water and they produce between 90 to 100 times less greenhouse gases than traditional farms. Insects have a high nutritional conversion rate. A feed with a protein of insects can be converted into 2kg of feed in an increase of body mass weight 1kg of whereas it takes 8kg of traditional feed to achieve the same goal.
